S3-XRL™
![]()
S3-XRL!™ is a rather trustworthy and even secure URL shortener. The short URLs can only be created by registered and verified users. The verification is done via PayPal with the requirement of a PayPal verified physical address. Every XRL is recorded and associated with its author. While phishing content is technically still possible, the user creating such a URL would be clearly identifiable.
XRLs can be made “secure”. A secure XRL can only be read and resolved by a connection of the person issuing the XRL. If somebody clicks on an XRL but is not authorized to see it, the XRL resolves to the owner of the URL, showing his or her profile on XeeMe.
What a URL shortener does
XRLs are very short URLs. The advantage of short URLs is that it is easier to share for instance on Twitter, SMS or other media where text length is limited. And it also is easier to share a short XRL on emails that using the often very long URLs that may actuallty not work on all sites or media.
You take any standard URL and it will be converted to a very short xrl. For instance this page’s full URL is http://society3.com/xrl-secure-url-shortener/ after shortening that URL, the XRl is http://xrl.co/d5vxe8

General Functionality:
Secure XRL:
If you check the “Secure” checkbox when creating a secure URL, the XRL can only be opened by one of your connections in XeeMe. It either resulves to the original URL or shows the authors profile on XeeMe with a note that this XRL is only visible to connection of the issuer of the URL.
Custom URLs
XRL allows to customize your short code for better readability and allowing some branding aspects. Once a short URL is created just customize the code. For instance: XRL.co/events
WHOIS retrieval:
If you want to know who issued any of the XRLs you can simply take the URL and add “?who” like http://xrl.co/d5vxe8?who
Tracking & Reporting:
All visits to a XRL are tracked. As an issuer of a XRL you know how many visits you have on each of your XRLs. When used in Buzz champagnes each “Buzz Action” is getting its own XRL so that you can track Buzz success rates by Buzz Team Member. On your XeeMe or S3 Dashboard you see how many clicks your XRLs received over time.
XRL Sources
There are two different XRL sources:
1) System generated XRLs
A system generated XRL is created by XeeMe or S3 applications. The user has no influence over the target URL and as such the URL can be highly trusted.
2) User generated XRLs
A user generated XRL can only be created by a registered and trusted user. Such a user can take any URL of any length and shorten it. As mentioned above a verified user needs to be verfied via PayPal and needs to have a physical address in order to be clearly identifiable.
Pricing:
S3-XRL!™ requires a verification $10
The verification is valid for one year.
